Information search for off-campus students

Reference queries

Library staff use the the reference collections to provide factual information, for example:

  • bibliographic detail
  • definition of terms
  • statistics

Research assistance

Library staff consult a range of resources eg catalogue, databases etc to locate books and journal articles relevant to your assignment or research need. This is an 'information search'.

Note: This service is not for postgraduate sudents undertaking research degrees. It is for off-campus undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking course work degrees who do not have internet access.

Allow a minimum of one week for our response. Information searches are done in order of receipt.

To request an information search

  • describe exactly what you need, supply:
    • keywords, synonyms, countries or regions of interest etc
    • specify type of literature eg book, article, case, patent etc
    • currency eg most recent; or, last ten years, etc
    • any other detail that clarifies what you are seeking
  • indicate how you would like to receive material: email, fax, mail or phone
