Placing and managing your requests

Tips on completing the document delivery request form:

  • Check the catalogue first before making a request
  • Provide as much accurate bibliographic information as possible to assist staff to quickly locate the correct item
  • Use Notes to send additional comments to staff eg
    • Note if it is missing from shelves to avoid automatic cancellation of the request
    • Most requests within Australia will be completed within 2 weeks. However, if item is required urgently, use the Need-by Date to indicate when you must have it by
  • Students will be requested to seek approval from supervisors or subject librarian for items attracting a higher cost eg overseas or rush / urgent requests
  • Students eligible for off-campus services can select Off Campus Services in Pickup Location for postal delivery. This option is generally unavailable for on campus students and staff
  • Select Email post to web to access your document on a web site for a limited period (14 days)
  • Tick the copyright declaration box to submit the request

Managing your requests

  • Notification from vmou@relaisill.com will be sent to the email address you nominated on the request form to:
    • confirm receipt of request and send all other related messages
    • deliver electronic documents as:
      • E-mail (attached file) or,
      • E-mail post to web
        delivery will upload the document to a website where it will be available to view for 14 days or up to 5 times. A link to the document will also be available from List All Requests
  • Select List All Requests in the request form to view a list of all requests you have placed
  • Select List Open Requests to view any outstanding requests
  • Select Request Number or Query Request for more detailed progress information.
    Status Message
    Processed action has been taken by staff such as request has been sent to a supplier
    Delivered action has been completed ie document / ILL loan has been sent to patron / available to pickup from a branch library or has been cancelled
    No status message request has not been processed by staff
  • You can send messages to local staff or request to cancel from Request display
  • Contact document delivery staff if you have not received your item or any communication from library staff after 3 weeks
