Web

The university is rolling out a new brand and content management system to administer the Monash University's web site. In response to this, the library has established an information management strategy working party to provide direction for the redevelopment of the library's web presence.

The aim of the group has been to create and maintain a web presence that meets user needs and supports the library's strategic directions. This is expressed in the four overarching goals of the redevelopment:

  • Improve access to resources and services
  • Improve quality of content (brevity, currency, relevance, clarity)
  • Facilitate and promote information literacy
  • Communicate the library's key messages

The redevelopment of the web site is the first stage of an ongoing process to constantly re-evaluate the library's web presence. A key feature of this will be establishing ongoing user testing of the sites. Implementation of the web redevelopment project will occur in line with the release of regulations for Monash web sites under the new brand guidelines. It is anticipated that these guidelines will be in place by January 2004. Following the release of the guidelines, the library site will be redeveloped and user-tested, with release of the new-look site planned for early in 2004.
