Monash University ePrint RepositoryThe eprint repository or archive was initially developed to provide a means by which researchers could make their work available for comment to other researchers without having to go through the often-lengthy publication process. The repository was also established to address threats to the sustainability of traditional scholarly communication, the increasing prices of journals and the lack of access to the volume of research produced. The term e-print describes any electronically published research paper. An e-print archive may contain both pre-prints, which is material available for comment that has not been peer-reviewed and post-prints, which have been peer-reviewed and are updated versions of works published as journal articles or conference papers.
