New manager for Matheson Library

The Library is delighted to announce that it has appointed Clare Carlsson to head the Sir Louis Matheson Library.

Clare, who commenced with the Library this week, has wide experience in the sector, as she has managed branch libraries at Swinburne University of Technology and has worked as a faculty librarian and information services coordinator at Deakin University, Burwood..

Matheson Library, the largest of three branches at Clayton, houses significant research and teaching collections in the arts, social sciences, business and economics and education. It contains a number of special collections including the Asian Studies Research Collection, Music and Multimedia Collection and the Rare Books Collection.

Popular with students with over a million visitors each year, the branch offers extended study hours when the main library is closed through the Annexe, an area of the library that opens off the foyer. Recent developments at the Matheson Library include a program of drop-in sessions and classes to improve academic learning skills and a thorough and ongoing review of the Matheson Library collections in preparation for the proposed refurbishment of the branch.
