||
| Leanne McCann has been appointed to lead the learning skills service offered through the Library. Based at Caulfield Library, she will head a team of advisers in libraries across the University's Victorian campus network and work collaboratively with faculties, librarians and other service providers to develop services and programs that meet the needs of students. An innovative and experienced educator, Leanne recently led a Teaching and Learning Excellence project aimed at improving student engagement and retention. Leanne comes to Monash from the Northern Metropolitan Institute of TAFE (NMIT) where she has been employed in the area of dual sector curriculum development, most recently for the Institute's Research and Development Department. She has also worked as Senior Educator and Program Manager in the area of Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management, and has extensive experience in program development and implementation, lecturing, business development and staff and curriculum management. Learning skills programs are designed to support the University’s development of student graduate attributes. They develop the core skills and attributes that tertiary students need to learn within an academic environment and disciplinary context in the areas of: study, reading and exam preparation; listening and note-taking in lectures and seminars; oral communication and presentation; analysis, problem-solving and critical thinking; and academic essay, report and thesis writing.
