Welcome to Berwick Library and Learning Commons 2006

The Berwick Library and Learning Commons opens its doors at the beginning of semester one, offering an exciting range of new and improved services and resources for users.

The first of its kind on a Monash campus, the Berwick Library and Learning Commons seamlessly combines library services and information technology services and resources with a contemporary, user-friendly learning and teaching environment.

Among the revolutionary innovations is a Self Loans checkout, giving users the ability to process their own loans. It's a touch screen and scanner which allows users to walk up unattended to process their loans and go, in a few simple steps.

The design of the Self Loans 'pod' makes it easy to correctly place the item for scanning. A fast receipt printer ensures there are no unnecessary delays and email receipts are also available on request.

Seventy-nine new computers are available to students using the library and learning commons, including 54 for general use, 20 situated in the training room and five 'express' computers for quick searches and locating items in the catalogue. There are also two new high volume black and white printers, and a colour printer and scanner.

Specialist staff are available to assist users with information searches or technology queries. Information on loans, resources, services and accounts is provided by a combined library and information technology services learning commons team. During busy periods "roaming" helpers are available - look for the Monash branded blue shirts! Put up your hand to get their attention if you need assistance.

An adaptive technology room has been well equipped for users with disabilities, and a group discussion room is also available. New modern furniture, a bright, open plan layout, improved signage, and wireless access are included in the new facility.

Library print card credits can be purchased in the library and learning commons. ITS print credits can be purchased online via the 'My Info' tab on my.monash, or from the Student Services Desk located in the main foyer of Building 901, room G39.
