More lectures online in 2005

An expanding service means Monash University undergraduate students will soon benefit from even more audio recordings of lectures available online.

Monash University Lectures Online, the library service that audio records and digitises lectures for online access, is expanding to an additional 40 theatres.

University funding for a joint project by the library and Information Technology Services will see the total number of lecture theatres equipped for audio recording of lectures expand from 40 in 2004 to 80 by the end of 2005.

This will include:

  • four theatres at Berwick campus;
  • nine at Caulfield campus;
  • fourteen at Clayton campus (including 4 theatres in the Engineering precinct);
  • eight theatres at Gipplsand campus; and
  • five additional theatres at Peninsula campus.

The extra forty lecture theatres will be turned on progressively throughout 2005, as staffing becomes available and equipment is fully tested, explained library information systems director, Janette Burke.

Ms Burke said one of the features of the new, improved service would be a new online request form, that lecturers can use to submit details of lecture schedules and notify their permission for lectures to be recorded.

The form will soon be available at the Monash University Lectures Online web page.

Lecturers interested in having their lectures recorded in semester one, 2005 and made available online are asked to contact Laurie Smith on extension 59408 as early as possible before semester one, 2005 commences.
