More computers for Peninsula Library

Library users on Peninsula campus will benefit from the installation of an additional thirteen computer workstations as a result of current building works.

In two separate building projects, due for completion by November 2004, the level 1 training room and the postgraduate room on level 2 will be extended to accommodate an additional eight and five computer workstations respectively.

Peninsula Library manager, Judy Hopley, explained extending the training room would involve removing solid walls and replacing some walls with glass panels.

“We are hoping to open up the whole training room area and make it more obvious to students that they can use the PC’s in the training room if they need to,” explained Ms Hopley.

“We often train large groups and 24 instead of 16 computer workstations will mean everyone gets a computer.”

Ms Hopley said the adjoining multimedia area would also be remodelled to provide better access to the growing audio-visual collection.

Renovation of the postgraduate room will involve increasing group and discussion facilities as well as the additional computers.

“Our postgraduates are really looking forward to the improvements being completed,” said Ms Hopley.
