Most Popular Book in the Library is...

A contender for the title of most popular book in the library has recently come to attention of collection management staff.

“In the last ten months Gabriel Oancea and Robert Donald’s Visual Basic.NET by example has been accessed 1935 times,” said Collection Management Librarian, Robert Stafford.

“Having the electronic version has meant that the book has been accessed about 200 times a month rather than twice a month that a hard copy on loan would be able to be borrowed."

The popularity of the book was discovered during routine checks on access figures for electronic books.

“We regularly review access figures so we can make sure we are buying the right resources and they are getting used, and we noticed that the online version of this book has been in very high demand.”

Visual Basic.NET by example is one of a collection of popular I.T./computer science e-books, known as the ‘Safari e-Books Collection’.

Library users are invited to view the Safari e-books in the library’s collection or suggest new titles to add to Monash’s collection from the full list of Safari e-books.
