Caulfield Library open to midnight

Caulfield Library will now be open to midnight, Monday to Friday during semester.

New hours during semester, starting from 15 March 2004, are:

Monday to Friday 8am - midnight
Saturday 10am - 10pm
Sunday 10am - 5pm (as now)

"In response to demand we trialled these extended hours late last year and they proved very popular," said Caulfield Library manager, Robet Hornett.

Hours will vary during non-semester periods so users are advised to check the library website www.lib.monash.edu/hours/ or pick up an information card containing a colour-coded calendar of hours for the year from the Caulfield Library.

Citing the greater need for flexible hours among Caulfield campus' high population of part time, postgraduate, evening and international students as one reason for the permanent increase of hours, Mr Hornett said the library had been experiencing steadily growing use.

"Over the last two years Caulfield Library has experienced a 60% increase in the number of library users visiting the library, with the library running at maximum capacity for much of the time."

"Hopefully, adopting the new hours permanently will relieve the situation and make the library more accessible for everyone."
