Library customer satisfaction survey – results and response

More than 2500 responses to the library's recent customer survey have paved the way for some major improvements in the library.

In response to survey results the library has produced "What you said and what the library will do about it", outlining upcoming plans for improvements such as:

  • increasing the number of computer workstations
  • upgrading computers and printing and copying equipment
  • refurbishing all branches, starting with the Hargrave-Andrew library.

"Results from this May 2003 survey indicate users are more satisfied with the library compared to 2000 and have shown us we are on the right track in where we are focussing our efforts," said university librarian, Cathrine Harboe-Ree

"Our service delivery is rated as good and our staff are rated as excellent - where we can improve the most is in our facilities such as computers, printers, copiers and the library buildings themselves."

Results indicated the top issue for library users was the number of computer workstations and adequacy of computers and electronic equipment.

"Overall we are performing very well and are certainly on a par with comparable Victorian academic libraries but we have the capacity to improve and, in fact, lead the way in terms of providing library services and that is what we intend to do," said Ms Harboe-Ree.

"The input we get from library users, not just from the survey but also through emails and suggestion boxes, really does guide library and university decisions, so I would like to thank library users for their invaluable input," Ms Harboe-Ree said.
