Come to the "Research in Australian Fiction" panel discussion
A panel discussion exploring research in Australian fiction will be held at the Matheson Library, Clayton campus at 6pm on Thursday, 28 August 2003. All Monash staff and students are invited to attend the discussion with panel members:
"Our speakers will be examining the concept of using fiction as a research tool from a variety of perspectives according to their area of expertise, exploring what the fiction can tell us about the different aspects of Australian society at the time it was created," explained Rare Books Librarian and discussion organiser, Richard Overell. "For example, the novels give us the means of seeing how people viewed relationships; and what the preoccupations or burning issues were at any particular time." "We are hoping the discussion will provide some ideas for Monash researchers looking for topics for study in related fields," said Mr Overell. The discussion will be held in the Rare Books exhibition area on the first floor of the Information Services Building in the Matheson Library, commencing at 6pm on Thursday 28 August 2003. Participants are invited to come earlier to take in the current Australian Fiction exhibition now on display. If you are interested in attending please contact Merrilyn Sorenson on phone 03 9905 2670 by the 27 August 2003 or email merrilyn.sorensen@lib.monash.edu.au 15 August, 2003 current news : 2007 : 2006 : 2005 : 2004 : 2003 : 2002 : pre-2002 Need help?
