Collection overview

The Monash University Library Map Collection is an extensive collection of maps, charts, atlases, gazetteers as well as books related to spatial information.

Located in the Hargrave-Andrew Library, Clayton campus, the collection contains maps from around the world with an emphasis on geological and topographical maps of Australia, and in particular, Victoria. There are also maps and charts of the oceans, Australian charts, atlases and gazetteers. Books and serial publications related to maps and spatial information are included in the collection. Tourist maps covering some areas of Australia and other parts of the world form a minor part of the collection.

While most of these materials are not listed in the library catalogue, they can be found in the Inventory of the Map Collection.

The Map Collection is supported by a specialist Map Librarian. Study facilities are available for researchers.

The Collection grows through selection of resources by the Map Librarian and donations, in line with the library's collection development policy.
