Collection strengths at Gippsland Library
Gippsland Library, one of eight branch
libraries of the Monash University Library, supports and resources
the learning, teaching and research activities of staff and students
at the university's Gippsland
campus. Gippsland Library has collection strengths in:
- arts
- business
- information technology
- nursing
- primary and secondary education
- social sciences
There is a large collection of videotapes and DVDs which is shelved
separately. Non-book materials eg software, slides, music CDs and audiotapes
are also housed in their own area. There is an excellent collection of
teaching materials, including books, educational CD-ROMs, kits, cassettes,
CD's, musical instruments, pictures, puppets, puzzles and science equipment.
Students on education rounds or preparing lesson plans are encouraged
to use these teaching materials. There is also a large collection of
children's fiction and picture books. Serials are held on the main and
the upper level of the library. The electronic collection of the Monash

Access to many electronic resources is restricted to
Monash University staff and students.
