Herbert Moore was an American who was sent to Sydney by the Comintern to
discipline the party and bring it back in line with Moscow. His real name was
Harry Wicks. CPA leader, Jack Kavanagh, himself a Canadian who had arrived in
Australian in 1925, claimed to recognise Moore from America as a Ku Klux Klan
member. After the war Moore was expelled from the American Communist Party as a
spy and it seems that he was an undercover anti-Communist agent throughout his
career in the Party.
