EndNote Web

EndNote Web is a simplified version of EndNote. All of your references are stored on the web, so you can access them wherever you are. Under the terms of our EndNote site licence, all Monash University students and staff have access to EndNote Web, but please consider the following:

  • check the comparison between EndNote Web and EndNote on the desktop
  • Monash University Library is not currently recommending use of EndNote Web and is not providing support or assistance for EndNote Web
  • your references will be stored on a server in the United States, this may present privacy and connection issues
  • you cannot:
    • edit the output styles
    • set up your own reference types
    • use journal term lists to convert abbreviated journal titles into full titles (and vice versa)
    • edit the filters or use Monash University filters. When importing references downloaded from databases you can only use the filters supplied with EndNote Web

Should you still wish to explore the product you can view online tutorials to learn more about it.

In order to maintain valid links to full text documents Monash staff and students should first register with Web of Knowledge and access EndNote Web from there.

The first time you go to My EndNote Web Library there may be a security certificate warning. If you are using:

  1. Internet Explorer 7, you may see 'There is a problem with this website's security certificate'. If so, click 'Choose to continue ...' (even though it says 'not recommended').
  2. Firefox, you may see 'Website certified by an unknown authority'. If so, click 'Accept this certificate permanently'. You could choose 'Accept this certificate temporarily for this session' but this means that you will see this warning every time you access My EndNote Web Library.

Once you are in My EndNote Web Library review the 'Help' pages (link at bottom of left navigation panel). There is useful information about browser plug-ins and about using this product with Word.
