Librarians with subject or discipline responsibility work in faculty
teams to ensure a consistent standard of service is offered across all
branches and to all students where ever they may be located. Each faculty
team is lead by a senior librarian, and supported by subject, liaison
and reference librarians. Activities include:
- Information literacy: Conduct tutorials and demonstrations
on the resources available in the library including electronic databases
such as CD-ROMs, and the Internet; develop instructional guides on
how to use these resources.
Academic staff are welcome to contact the relevant librarian to
arrange library instruction for their students
- Collection development / Acquisition: Liaise with
departments concerning the acquisition of library materials for research
and course work.
Academic staff and postgraduate students should contact the relevant
librarian to request purchase of material to support their research
or teaching
- Reference service: Interact with users, both external
(via phone, email and online chat) and at the Information desk, guiding
users in finding information.
Postgraduate students may contact the relevant librarian to discuss
their thesis topic and available resources
